History of Curling
The game of curling was first recorded in 1540. It was recorded that a group of monks were playing on a frozen pond in Scotland. The first rules of curling were drawn up in Edinburgh, Scotland in 1838. In 1924 the first international curling competition took place, but only for the men. In 1975 the first world junior men's championship took place, and four years later in 1979 the first world junior women's were held. Curling became a demonstration sport in the 1988 and 1992 Winter Olympic Games. It was officially an Olympic sport in the 1998 Olympics. Curling continues to grow as a sport, and every year the game becomes more challenging with new skills to be learned.
